  • Sunday School
Sunday SchoolWe have Sunday School classes for all ages.  Sunday School begins with opening exercises in the sanctuary followed by class time for Primary, Junior, Teen and Adult ages. We also have a class for "new" believers and those who desire to increase their understanding of the basics. Nursery care is provided for the little ones through age 3.

  • Morning Worship
Choir Our morning Worship Service appeals to young and old alike and is designed first and foremost to focus our attention on God.  Pipe organ and piano, grand old hymns of the faith and worship choruses, followed by relevant teaching from God's Word encourage each one to be salt and light in a dark and dying world. Nursery care is provided for the little ones through age 3. Children's Church is geared for children ages 4 through grade 3.

  • Evening Service
Our Sunday evening service is a less formal time of hymn and chorus singing, question and answer time, and Bible teaching.

  • Dare to Care
Our church was made aware this past year of the many needs that surround us. These needs take on many forms, some physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. Being a “lighthouse” in a community is much more than thinking about it, missing on the topic, brainstorming and desiring – it calls for action.

We were also dreadfully aware of our lack of the ”how to” of such an endeavor. Because of this concern and need for instruction, we asked around, made calls and discovered a national program called “Dare to Care”! It is not so much a program, but ministry – one that cuts to the chase and does not create bureaucracy. This indeed is the people oriented emphasis for which we were looking.

Note Care After visiting another church in Maine, First Baptist of Boothbay Harbor, we gathered together to tailor one that would meet our needs. We meet every Wednesday night at 6:30 PM, have general prayer and thoughts, grab some light “goodies” prepared weekly by our own chef Loiselle, then go to various rooms, some for praying, telephoning, visiting, and writing of notes.

Our Lord calls us to give a cup of cold water in His Name, and we anticipate doing more of that in this area of the world where He has placed us as witnesses.

  • Youth Group

youth Group Our youth group meets Sunday afternoon prior to the evening service and is involved in many activities.  Leaders Ken and Linda Gardner take the kids on camping/canoe trips on the Little Ossipee River, hikes up Douglas Mountain  in Baldwin and Mount Cutler in Hiram, and roller skating outings.  Word of Life SuperBowl in the fall followed by Christmas caroling and a weekend at Rumney Snow Camp for wintertime activities round out the schedule.

  • Sunshine Circle

This group is open to all ladies of the church, members, visitors and friends. Our focus is Christian fellowship and “work” (doing a LOT for others). We plan special events, providing food decorations and personnel for these get togethers. They would include such times as weddings, general and specific church meetings and even funerals. God has given us wonderful women, talented and energetic (most of the time) to be about the business of our Lord.

We meet once a month, usually on the second Thursday, in the evening at 7:00 PM. If you think this is not a “serious” group of women, I challenge you to come and see for yourself. Be careful though, it could be contagious.

Please, we hope to see you in the near future.

  • Fellowship Dinner and Drive-By's

In Matthew Chapter 25 verses 34-40, Jesus tells us how we will be blessed by the Father for feeding His hungry, His thirsty, helping those strangers that cross our paths, clothe those who are in need, care for those who are sick and visit those who are in prison. Prison does not necessarily mean a jail; it could mean being unable to leave home or chair.

So don't hesitate to do GOD'S work.

The fellowship dinners were established with some objectives in mind.  It is our desire to bring together the church community in an informal, relaxing atmosphere where fellow- Christians can enjoy each other's company. The dinners also provide an opportunity for church families to invite others to dinner who aren't involved in our church community and expose them to our Christian way of life.

Fellowship Dinners By attending a fellowship dinner after a church service, we may be a source of encouragement to those in need of conversation, neighborly love, a caring heart, companionship, a feeling of belonging from fellow Christians.  There is always enough food.  We just pray and add water to the soup.  The Lord is our cook, so you know there will be enough for all His children.

Another objective is to set up an outreach program through the "Drive-by Dinners" for elderly, shut-ins, ill, or just folks we know who could use a visit from caring people.  This gives members of the church community an opportunity to get acquainted with people they may not know well when delivering a "Drive-by Dinner". This helps us to develop relationships between those in need and the body of Christ.  "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world." James 1:27

Our food ministry is working toward the fulfillment of Jesus' instruction to care for those in need.  Not just with the drive-by dinners, but with visits, conversation, love, concern, caring.  We have opportunities to fill a void that only the Lord can fill through our willingness to get involved with His poor, His sick, His elderly and His lost.  God loves them and through the efforts and sacrifices of His people, He shines His light on them. "In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven." Matthew 5:15

Plant the seed and let Him do the rest

We will be feeding the flock every third week of the month.  We are always open to ideas for expanding the ministry to reach others.  Chef Loiselle and the church family look forward to serving you.

"THE LORD LOVES A CHEERFUL GIVER."

  • Ossipee Valley Christian School

Because of a growing concern over 20 years ago, the church embarked on a mission of “building” a Christian school, realizing the progressive tendency of State education to be hostile to the values of many in this area. The beginnings were humble indeed and we built partitions in the basement of the church, hired teachers and put together a Board of Directors.

Several approaches were investigated in those early days, but we believed that it was advisable to be state approved, as long as Maine allowed us to teach from a Christian perspective. Another concern was the proper person to “head” the school, academically and spiritually this person was to be known well. Pastor Jack knew of a woman he had worked with at the Rumney Bible Conference, drove over there and invited her to become our administrator. This “find” was proven to be of the Lord, for Miss Susan Smith remained with us for many years, building a good reputation for our school.

OVCS Building Over the years we prayed for a larger facility, for we had grown much, and the space was minimal, to say the least. In 1997 a neighboring Christian church approached us, knowing of our dilemma, and made a wonderful offer, to house the school. We did accept the offer and the location of the school is only 4 miles north of us on Route 160 at the Hilltop Baptist Church, pastored by Rev. Robert Irish, another long-term minister in this region. He is a dear friend and colleague, as are the people of Hilltop. We are grateful for that relationship.

As of September, 1999 OVCS became a joint ministry shared between the Limerick Free Baptist Church and Hilltop Baptist Church. The 1999-2000 school year also marked the addition of 9th and 10th grade with 11th and 12th grade added in September, 2001. We presently have nearly 70 young people registered with more interest building. The school can be reached by telephone at 207.793.4005 or email at ovcs79@juno.com  Their website is located here. Our very own Athletic Director, Kathy Garland is also the director of the Maine Christian School Sports League.
